It’s nightfall, and Paolo (Corso Solani) awaits the arrival home of his long-time boyfriend Luca, while elsewhere, elderly Marco rides his bike home. Suddenly, Marco is gunned down as he enters the apartment building towards which Luca is headed, and Luca, an innocent bystander and witness, is himself shot in the back.
The early, woozy haze of the shock gone, Paolo is now at the hospital, unable to ascertain what has happened, the doctors unable to inform him because he’s not a ‘relative’ under Italian law. So he wanders out onto the dark, silent streets of Bologna to see out the night…
This extraordinary debut feature from acclaimed theatre director Andrea Adriatico is an hypnotic and invigorating human tale, about gay discrimination, the rise in domestic terror, and what happens to the victims loved ones when they are left alone. Haunting, provocative and invigorating, THE WIND, IN THE EVENING is a definite Festival highlight.
